It is highly likely the short-lived distillery of Balerno was installed somewhere off Harlaw Road on the Bavelaw Burn, which runs about a mile from what is now Harlaw Reservoir.
Balerno History
Balerno, also spelled Ballarno, distillery was opened in 1825 by Edward Waterson, possibly in partnership with John Wilson, who withdrew soon after start-up.
The distillery was acquired in 1826 by the Balerno Distillery Co., also known as John Fullerton & Co. However by 1830 the company dissolved, and Balerno distillery was closed.
